Project Amani is a local-first, zero-egress collective intelligence platform for organizations where knowledge is the competitive edge and accountability for what gets built is non-negotiable. It embeds six interaction modes — Librarian, Facilitator, Devil's Advocate, Coach, Auditor, and Coder — into daily team collaboration workflows through a distributed, governance-aware architecture. It acts as a "computer in the group," not an autonomous agent. All inference, knowledge, and data remain within the organization's physical boundary. No query, document fragment, code snippet, or session content is transmitted to any external AI service, API, or cloud provider — under any circumstance.
"Amani" means "peace" in Swahili. The project is named after Amani, the second golden retriever in our family, born September 2, 2023. Amani arrived during a time of loss — our beloved first golden retriever, Simba (who taught us so much about loyalty and joy), passed away on October 2, 2023. Amani is a fifth-generation descendant of Simba's bloodline, carrying forward the legacy of a dog who was part of our family's story. This project honors that continuity and the peace that Amani brings to our lives.
Project Amani is built on my capstone project from the MIT Designing and Building AI Products and Services program. The project received an Exemplary assignment badge, reflecting rigorous engineering principles and deep understanding of AI product design and deployment.
